Travis Kelce Reacts to Eric Bieniemy’s Return to Chiefs

Travis Kelce hasn’t confirmed his plans for the next season yet, but he’s shared that the Kansas City Chiefs are thrilled about Eric Bieniemy rejoining the team as offensive coordinator.

The Chiefs have brought back Bieniemy, who previously served as their offensive coordinator from 2018 to 2022, and Kelce seems genuinely excited about this news. Bemini’s prior stint with the Chiefs included being the running backs coach from 2013 to 2017. Last season, he worked as the running backs coach for the Chicago Bears.

Bieniemy’s coaching history is quite notable. After leaving the Chiefs, he was with the Washington Commanders for one season as assistant head coach and offensive coordinator. From there, he moved to UCLA, where he continued in a similar role, before making his way back to the Bears.

Kelce commented on Bieniemy’s unique coaching style, noting how his approach aligns well with the physicality he embodies on the field. “You’ll see who he is as an EB and a coach, his personality…you could tell that the running backs in Chicago were definitely influenced by Bieniemy’s style of football,” he remarked during a recent episode of “New Heights.”

This past season, the Bears showcased a solid rushing attack. D’Andre Swift notably rushed for over 1,000 yards, along with rookie Kyle Monangai adding significant yardage. They both had standout seasons, reflecting Bieniemy’s impact earlier.

As a player, Kelce experienced remarkable growth while working with Bieniemy and expressed eagerness for his return. “I can’t wait to have him back in the building. He’s one of my favorite coaches of all time,” he stated. It’s clear he appreciates not just the coaching but the personal connection they share.

With the Chiefs’ season just wrapping up, Kelce mentioned he would take some time off to consider his future options. Should he choose to return to the Chiefs, having Bieniemy back would be a comforting factor for him.
