Authorities Investigate K-9 Food Targeting

Federal officials revealed on Wednesday that a K-9 from Customs and Border Protection (CBP) may have been a target for protesters. This disturbing situation arose when an employee at a kennel wrote “ICE OUT” on the dog’s feeding chart amidst ongoing anti-ICE activities in Minneapolis.

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) reported that protestors were specifically focusing on CBP K-9s, one of which is named “Dina.” According to DHS, it came to light that an employee at the kennel where Dina was housed had made the inflammatory remark on her food chart, indicating a troubling attitude toward not just the agents, but their canine partners, too.

Interestingly, there isn’t any clear information about which kennel Dina was at, or even the status of the employee involved.

Recent events have fueled tensions in Minneapolis. On January 7, Renee Nicole Good, 37, was shot and killed by ICE agents after allegedly trying to interfere with an operation by driving towards them.

As the situation escalated, Minnesota’s Department of Public Safety announced that National Guard troops were being prepared to assist local law enforcement, though they have not yet been deployed. There’s an ongoing concern for public safety amid the growing unrest.

Complicating matters, reports have surfaced indicating that anti-ICE demonstrators are becoming increasingly aggressive toward federal agents, prompting a significant reaction from federal authorities. A senior U.S. official later indicated that the military was considering deploying 1,500 troops in response to these tensions, particularly following President Trump’s threats to use the Insurrection Act against the protests.
