Liberals: Pay Attention to China’s Increasing Aggression
As the situation in Venezuela draws renewed attention, it’s important for Washington to keep an eye on an even greater rival: China. Michael D. Purzycki notes at Liberal Patriot that national security analysts believe China could be ready to invade Taiwan by 2027. This means Americans should start preparing for the impacts of potential conflict, which could affect both military and civilian sectors. It’s crucial for the U.S. to ensure a steady supply of essential industrial products and enough oil for military operations, while also gearing up against possible cyberattacks from China. Xi Jinping may be counting on the reluctance of Americans to engage in a prolonged war to tilt the odds in favor of China in any major confrontation.

The Shift in Education: Teachers and Violent Rhetoric
In a troubling development, two teachers from a Pittsburgh charter school were dismissed after posting videos supporting Iran’s threats against President Trump. The Washington Examiner’s Sarena Zito has covered this story. Education Week reported that teachers have been either fired or placed on leave in various states for social media posts that seem to endorse or reference violence against political figures. This has led many parents to question the kinds of messages teachers—whether public or private—are sending in classrooms. It raises a clear concern about why more families are opting for homeschooling. Besides academic concerns, it appears there’s a troubling culture among educators reflected in their online behavior.

ICE Conflict I: Churches Taking a Stand
Once again, the left seems to be missing the mark on important issues, remarks Nicole Russell in USA Today. There’s an apparent disdain for law and order, driven partially by opposition to President Trump, which has led some to even halt church services to make a political point. This crosses a line, undermining religious freedom, a fundamental part of American values, and raises questions about progressivism’s position on Christianity. Moreover, there seems to be a lack of concern for victims of unlawful immigration. For instance, had Laken Riley’s killer not been released, she might still be alive today. Minnesota leaders deserve criticism for advocating sanctuary policies while also promoting negative rhetoric against ICE.

ICE Conflict II: Minneapolis Leadership’s Response
In the aftermath of a tragic shooting involving an individual obstructing ICE officers, Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey has not admonished residents to cooperate with law enforcement; instead, he’s prompted a conflict. The Wall Street Journal’s William McGahn comments on this. Although Renee Good wasn’t a hardened criminal, she overestimated her political stance, believing it would exempt her from the legal repercussions of resisting authorized law enforcement. If she had simply complied with officers’ instructions, she might still be alive. Frey claims that fighting against ICE isn’t merely resistance; it’s an expression of love. Yet, this notion of “love” resembles the disconcerting rhetoric that previously justified serious unrest in Seattle.

Conservatives: Urban Crime and Trump’s Reactions
President Trump has uniquely highlighted the urgency of addressing crime that falls outside typical political narratives. Heather MacDonald at City Journal observes that his statements disrupt the complacency regarding urban violence. Trump, who is visibly offended by street crime, has chosen to break from the expected restraint typically seen in presidential rhetoric, opting instead for a direct approach. While his calls for the National Guard to act in crime-stricken areas may provide a temporary solution, it’s critical to note that he’s not advocating for national legislation. Still, Trump signals that violence isn’t merely a fact of life that should be accepted.
