A lawsuit from wedding planners terminated after Brooklyn Beckham and Nicola Peltz’s problematic wedding has revealed a possible rift between the Peltz family and Victoria Beckham.
According to court documents in a lawsuit related to the model’s April 2022 Florida wedding, the Beckhams reportedly had a nearly complete guest list, while the Peltz family’s list was lacking details like addresses.
“Nicola kept texting about it. The document highlights how creating a thorough guest list became a constant struggle,” it noted.
Meanwhile, the Peltz family, including Nicola’s wealthy father Nelson and mother Claudia, seemed worried that the Beckhams would find out about these issues.
“Claudia and Nicola both insisted Victoria Beckham was unaware of any internal mistakes in their wedding planning,” states the complaint.
The wedding planners, Nicole Bragin and Ariana Grijalva, who were brought in just six weeks before the wedding and let go nine days later, filed a counterclaim for breach of contract. Nelson previously claimed he would not return his $159,000 deposit.
In the court documents, Bragin and Grijalva described Nelson as a “billionaire bully,” noting he was so unhappy that he even threatened to “cancel the wedding,” which Nelson later referred to as a “show.”
“Claudia pleaded with Nelson not to back out because it would ‘ruin Nicola’s career,’” the documents revealed.
Nelson contended that the planners “didn’t deliver a valuable service” and sought refunds. He characterized the counterclaim as a “good old-fashioned overhaul.”
According to papers reviewed by Page Six, the planners demanded “additional payment for services they didn’t provide.”
Nelson’s attorneys criticized the planners for attempting to portray Nicola negatively to sway media opinion and compel Mr. Peltz to drop the allegations against them.
Bragin expressed confidence in their work, having told the Daily Mail that Nicola had sent a last-minute text to him saying, “You can’t do it!” before their dismissal.
As the situation unfolded, the couple’s former wedding planner Preston Bailey offered a more positive perspective, calling Nicola “amazing.”
Bailey, who was hired in April 2021 and resigned in early March 2022, mentioned he was “overworked” but held no grudges against the Peltz family.
Ultimately, Brooklyn and Nicola resolved their lawsuits in September 2023, with both parties agreeing that the contract dispute involving Nelson Peltz and Plan Design should be settled.
As part of this resolution, the wedding planners expressed good wishes for the couple’s future and announced a donation to the CARE Ukraine Crisis Fund in their names.
On social media, Brooklyn criticized his parents for allegedly controlling “reports about our family” and implied that Victoria was not interested in mending family ties.
He claimed his mother canceled a significant wedding dress at the last minute, stating this led to chaos during the event. Nicola, super excited to wear her design, ended up rushing to find a new one, disrupting their first dance as a married couple.
Despite the joyous occasion, Brooklyn described feeling “uncomfortable or humiliated.”
An attendee shared with Page Six that the family dynamics became evident when singer Marc Anthony invited Brooklyn to dance with “the most beautiful woman there,” which seemed to upset Nicola.
Reports suggested that during the wedding, Victoria approached Brooklyn on stage, wrapping her arms around him, which Brooklyn felt took away a special moment from Nicola, leaving the bride in tears.
While the Beckham side cheered, the Peltz side remained quiet throughout the incident.
