DeSantis Criticizes Newsom on “Hannity”
During an appearance on FNC’s “Hannity” on Friday, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis took aim at California Governor Gavin Newsom for attempting to mobilize global leaders against former President Donald Trump during the Davos summit.
DeSantis suggested that Newsom’s behavior was indicative of the serious problems currently faced by California. He stated, “Oh, you portray the governor of California really well in some of these clips. He’s hanging out in Davos and basically attacking the president of the United States and encouraging foreign leaders to rally against him while on foreign soil. He has a record of people leaving the state. They obviously have a lot of problems with homelessness, crime, and more. When I showed him a picture with Alex Soros, it seemed fitting since this governor has a sort of California Soros. Once, California was a place everyone wanted to visit. Now, they are shrinking in population and continue to do so due to left-wing policies that are failing.”
Host Sean Hannity replied, “You know, that’s true. That’s great. You were the first to point that out to me, and then I started noticing it myself when I drove. I’ve seen more California license plates in Florida. I’m shocked at how many Californians seem to support you, including Gavin’s own in-laws. Is that right?”
DeSantis confirmed, “Yeah, that’s accurate. As a kid in Florida, I never experienced anything like that. Even during my first year as governor, I started seeing the effects of situations like the coronavirus. Florida was a battleground state back then, and many Republicans were worried because they found California license plates and wondered if Florida was becoming like them. In reality, it was quite the opposite. People were tired of failed policies and saw Florida as a place of freedom and sanity.”
He added, “Since I became governor, the influx of people from California has primarily been Republican.”
