The Trump administration has directed strong criticism toward Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, alleging that he has undermined law enforcement and obstructed collaboration with federal immigration agencies.
In a recent social media post, White House press secretary Caroline Leavitt accused Walz of not cooperating with federal entities like Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), during a significant enforcement operation.
“Tim Walz does not believe in law and order,” Leavitt’s statement claimed. “No amount of liberal media propaganda will change that perception among Americans.”
Walz has openly criticized federal interventions, especially following several contentious shootings involving immigration agents—most notably, the death of Minneapolis resident Renee Good in early January, and another shooting that led to the death of 37-year-old Alex Preti shortly after.
“Minnesota believes in law and order,” Walz stated on X, formerly Twitter. “We advocate for peace, and we think President Trump should withdraw 3,000 untrained agents from our state to prevent more tragedies on our streets.”
Leavitt contended that Walz has barred law enforcement from partnering with ICE to detain individuals deemed “dangerous criminal illegal aliens.”
She remarked that, since Trump took office, Walz has “returned around 500 illegal aliens who committed crimes back to the streets instead of transferring them to federal custody.”
Additionally, she accused the governor of spreading “malicious lies” about federal law enforcement, suggesting that his rhetoric could put agents in jeopardy as they perform their duties.
Leavitt asserted that Walz encouraged “left-wing agitators” to stalk and document federal employees, which, she argued, resulted in those officials being “targeted, obstructed, and placed in perilous situations.”
She also referenced Walz’s management of the civil unrest in 2020, saying, “This is the same Tim Walz who allowed rioters to engulf Minneapolis in flames following George Floyd’s murder.”
Moreover, Levitt accused him of overseeing a “massive fraud scheme” that allegedly drained tens of billions from American taxpayers.
She emphasized that President Trump “will not waver” from his commitment to deport undocumented immigrants who engage in violent acts, a stance she claims is supported by around 80 million Americans in contrast to what she termed “the open borders agenda of Kamala Harris and Tim Walz.”
Leavitt urged Walz to reassess his position and collaborate with federal authorities, saying, “Governor Walz should do what is right as a Minnesotan and cooperate with federal law enforcement, rather than oppose them,” citing successful partnerships in cities like Florida, Texas, and Washington, D.C., that have fostered “peace and security.”
