Two more figures have emerged as martyrs for the Democrats in Minneapolis.
Activists Alex Preti and Renee Goode, despite their intentions, unwittingly fell prey to the Democratic Party’s hunger for power, even if it involves unethical methods.
Both were armed and resisted arrest when shot by ICE agents. Preti, age 37, had a 9mm firearm concealed in his pants, while Goode, also 37, drove aggressively toward ICE officers in a large SUV.
Their deaths were cast as a fight for justice, as promised by Minnesota leaders: to prevent federal agents from enforcing President Trump’s orders to deport violent criminals, drug traffickers, and other unlawful individuals perceived to be threats to society.
If anyone is to be held accountable for their demise, it likely isn’t the ICE agents, who are outnumbered by aggressive extremists—one even bit off a finger of an employee just last week.
Rather, the real culprits may be the Democratic politicians who incite unrest. Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, Attorney General Keith Ellison, and Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey are the same individuals who inflamed tensions during the 2020 George Floyd protests that spread across the nation.
“Resistance is important”
The deaths of Good and Preti parallel how George Floyd’s death was used to justify civil disorder, aimed at undermining President Trump and benefiting Democrats. There’s no sense of sorrow here—only calculated political gain.
This approach resembles the tactics employed in 2020, where organized extremist groups drove the protests. However, this time, the more aggressive elements of Antifa are joined by sympathetic figures—like mothers and demonstrators in costumes—to soften the narrative.
These Democrats continue to fuel civil unrest and obstruct local law enforcement, leaving ICE agents vulnerable during violent confrontations.
In 2020, both Walz and Frey took a hard stance against the Minneapolis police, even waiting too long to deploy the National Guard while chaos unfolded. They surrendered the Third Precinct, granting a symbolic victory to the anti-police movement. The abandoned sites now stand as a testament to the chaos that ensued in the city.
Walz and Frey faced little consequence for their actions, even being rewarded with re-elections. Walz was later considered for the vice presidency, which some say indicates his involvement in supporting Biden’s electoral success (do you really believe that?).
There’s a belief, echoed by Trump, that Walz and his colleagues have incited violence partly to sidetrack attention from welfare fraud and other allegations involving the Somali community. Remarkably, Walz even pulled out of his re-election bid just two days before Goode’s passing.
An argument could be made that Walz and his AG ignored the unfolding crises. Or perhaps they were more deeply involved than anyone realizes.
Ellison was recorded in a 2021 meeting discussing ways to secure campaign funding in exchange for catering to fraudulent activities within the Somali community.
Following Goode’s death, instead of attempting to calm tensions, Democrats intensified their rhetoric and began to raise funds from the tragedy.
Last week, Walz further stirred the pot, proclaiming to supporters that “resistance is important” and seemed to embrace the unrest.
Stand Your Ground Twist
Arizona Attorney General Chris Mays added to the tension by asserting that residents could legally shoot ICE agents under self-defense laws.
“Masked federal officers with little identification…and a ‘Stand Your Ground’ law means if you feel threatened in your own space, you can use deadly force,” she clarified.
Did you catch that?
By Friday, outrage reached its peak as a false narrative emerged that claimed a 5-year-old Ecuadorian boy was “kidnapped” by ICE to entrap his father. In reality, the boy’s father had left him outside in the cold. Police brought him home, but his mother wouldn’t open the door, so they returned him to his father, who was already detained.
What was the alternative? Would he have been handed off to unverified sponsors as occurred with countless missing children crossing the border under Biden’s watch?
Just a day after this situation unfolded, Preti was shot.
For Walz, this was perhaps another win: more chaos and another martyr for their cause.
He had a chance last week to ease tensions by responding to a request from Vice President J.D. Vance, asking if Minnesota could share information with federal law enforcement and cease their orders halting police cooperation. After all, President Trump’s policies had led to a significant decrease in homicides in major U.S. cities last year—maybe even the lowest rates we’ve seen in over a century. Surely, that’s beneficial for everyone, right?
Instead, Walz opted for escalation, claiming that ICE was “shooting people in the face as they leave donut shops… The President must put an end to this operation. Remove these untrained, violent officers from Minnesota. Immediately.”
Walz and our nation’s Zoran Mamdani seem unwavering in their stance. They won’t settle for anything less than dismantling ICE and immigration enforcement altogether.
Lt. Gov. Peggy Flanagan even urged activists to “put your life on the line.”
Then we saw Minnesota figure Kyle Wagner incite armed resistance, encouraging people to “get your guns.” They seem intent on perpetuating violence—clearly serving their strategic goals.
ICE Alone Cannot Win
But, once burned, twice shy. Former President Trump should avoid repeating past mistakes of neglecting the unrest stirred by Democrats.
This time, there’s an opportunity to coordinate more effectively.
The Department of Homeland Security needs strategic support from various agencies, including the FBI and the Department of Justice.
Republicans should reassess their strategies towards Biden’s aggressive legal maneuvers regarding January 6 protests.
It’s time to match their efforts.
A stern letter from AG Pam Bondi to Walz isn’t going to cut it.
What about the FBI’s response to Antifa agitators? How did they manage to use an FBI vehicle for their looting?
Why haven’t Walz, Ellison, and Frey been targeted legally or had their funding stripped?
Also, as Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer blocks DHS funding, why aren’t Senate Republicans invoking the filibuster to break through Democratic resistance?
ICE agents can’t bear this burden on their own.
