Ali Larter Discusses Challenges of Bikini Scene in “The Landman”

Ali Larter has openly shared her thoughts about her role in “The Landman,” particularly her discomfort with certain scenes.

The 49-year-old actress expressed that the bikini scene featuring her character, Angela Norris, was, surprisingly, the one she was least excited about filming. “I don’t think there’s an actress in this world who’s like, ‘Wow! There’s a bikini scene!’” Larter remarked in a recent interview. “Nobody wants to do it.”

She elaborated, saying, “That’s the hardest thing for me. It’s not fun. It’s just part of the story I’m telling. I’m an actress, so I participate in it. But those are definitely the things I hate the most.” The “Heroes” star described the bikini scene as “difficult in a weird way,” emphasizing her focus on maintaining her physique due to Angela being “very physical and loves spray tans and blondes.”

“But I feel like no matter what, I have to spend all this time battling my own insecurities,” Larter added, acknowledging the mental struggle involved in donning a bikini for a scene.

On a brighter note, she shared that her favorite moments in “The Landman” are the honest interactions with co-star Billy Bob Thornton, who portrays Angela’s ex-husband, Tommy. “I love it, and older people love it too!” she said, clearly enjoying those deeper connections.

Larter has also previously discussed her fitness regimen for her role in Taylor Sheridan’s Paramount+ series. “I’m telling you, I work really hard, okay? I’m not pretending I’m not working,” she shared, mentioning her early morning runs and focus on a clean diet, reflecting her commitment to her health.

When it comes to wearing a swimsuit, Larter noted, “Any time you have to walk in front of someone in a swimsuit, it’s really difficult. The sexiest women I know are the ones who own it. So, getting there with Angela, it’s important to own it.”

Despite criticism about Angela being overly sexualized, Larter defended Taylor Sheridan’s vision for the character, calling him a “provocateur” who aims to evoke strong reactions and emotions through his writing. “The great thing about our show, and many of the shows Taylor creates, is that they are all very original and authentic to themselves,” she concluded.
