Shedeur Sanders earns Pro Bowl selection to take Drake Maye's spot in a unique recognition for the Browns.

Cleveland Browns quarterback Shedeur Sanders has been named a replacement for Drake Maye in the Pro Bowl game taking place this Sunday. He played a pivotal role in the Patriots’ success, leading the team to the Super Bowl, according to sources.

The Patriots secured their spot by narrowly defeating the Broncos 10-7 for the AFC Championship. They will now face the Seahawks, who triumphed over the Rams 31-27 in the NFC Championship, in the Super Bowl scheduled for February 8, 2026, in Santa Clara.

During his rookie season, Sanders recorded a 3-4 record over seven starts. He completed 120 passes out of 212 attempts, totaling 1,400 yards, with seven touchdowns and 10 interceptions, resulting in a passer rating of 68.1.

At just 23, Sanders, the son of Hall of Famer Deion Sanders, is the first Browns quarterback to achieve Pro Bowl status since Derek Anderson in 2008.

In the final two games of the season, Sanders contributed to victories against Aaron Rodgers and the Steelers, as well as Joe Burrow’s Bengals.

In a close 20-18 win against Cincinnati in Week 18, he managed 111 passing yards and 26 rushing yards, although he did have a fumble that was lost.

During an end-of-season press conference, Browns GM Andrew Berry opted not to confirm Sanders as the starting quarterback for the upcoming season.

Browns owner Jimmy Haslam similarly refrained from discussing Sanders’ future during his own press remarks.

The Browns wrapped up the 2025 season with a disappointing 5-12 record, finishing 31st in scoring and 30th in total offense, though they ranked 4th in total defense. Following this, head coach Kevin Stefanski was relieved of his duties.

Jaguars offensive coordinator Grant Wudinsky has declined to pursue the Browns’ head coaching position. Remaining candidates include defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz, Rams pass game coordinator Nate Schielhaas, Commanders run game coordinator Anthony Lynn, and former Ravens offensive coordinator Todd Monken.
