Tragic Sledding Accident in Texas
A teenage girl lost her life, and another was critically injured following a sledding incident involving a Jeep in Texas. Authorities were called to the scene just before 3 p.m. on Sunday, as reported by the Frisco Police Department.
Two 16-year-old girls were discovered with serious injuries. First responders quickly performed life-saving procedures and transported the teens to a nearby hospital. Sadly, one girl did not survive and passed away due to her injuries, while the other remains in critical condition.
In an initial investigation, police noted that a 16-year-old boy was operating the Jeep Wrangler, which was towing the two girls on a sled. Witnesses mentioned that the sled struck a curb and crashed into a nearby tree.
Though the police have opted not to release the names of the minors involved, one of the girls, identified as Elizabeth Angle, was confirmed dead by her mother, Megan Angle, through a social media announcement. Megan expressed her grief, stating, “Brian and I are deeply devastated and shocked to announce the death of a beautiful 16-year-old girl, Elizabeth Marie Angle.”
Describing her daughter as “a bright light, a joyful spirit and a brave soul,” Ms. Angle reflected on the fragility of life. She asked for prayers for her daughter, emphasizing the love and support Elizabeth had throughout her life.
Elizabeth was a sophomore at Wakeland High School and was active in soccer, playing for both her school and FC Dallas.
As the investigation continues, authorities have warned residents about the hazardous road conditions caused by recent winter storms, which brought ice and snow to much of North Texas, creating potentially dangerous situations.
