The Department of Justice, under former President Joe Biden, has initiated a financial probe into Rep. Ilhan Omar, a Democrat from Minnesota and former Somali refugee. This investigation comes on the heels of reports indicating that she has accumulated a net worth of millions since entering Congress.
Recently, it was revealed that the DOJ began looking into Omar’s financial dealings in 2024. This raises questions similar to those previously posed by former President Donald Trump regarding the sources of her wealth, now echoed by federal prosecutors during the Biden era.
“Sources familiar with the investigation confirmed that the Biden administration’s Justice Department has started examining the financial activities, campaign expenditures, and connections to foreign individuals related to Rep. Omar,” a report noted.
This week, President Trump shared his thoughts on Truth Social regarding the DOJ investigation into Omar:
… The Justice Department and Congress are watching Ilhan Omar, the “Congressman” who came from Somalia with nothing and is now believed to have a net worth exceeding $44 million. Time will reveal everything. Thank you for your attention to this issue. President DJT [Emphasis added]
In response, Omar took to X, asserting that Trump’s “support is collapsing” and that he is “panicking,” insisting there’s no basis for a financial investigation into her affairs.
“Sorry, Mr. Trump, your support is collapsing and you are panicking,” Omar stated. “You’re merely trying to divert attention from your own issues with falsehoods and conspiracy theories about me. Years of ‘investigation’ have yielded nothing.”
Recently, Rep. James Comer (R-Ky.) expressed his intent to subpoena Omar’s husband, Tim Mynette, questioning their combined net worth.
According to previous reports, Omar and Mynett’s financial disclosures indicated their net worth ranged from $6 million to $30 million by the end of 2024.
“…Omar’s latest financial statements suggest that her and her husband’s net worth skyrocketed by at least 3,500 percent in just one year,” the Washington Free Beacon reported.
