Colombia’s President Makes Controversial Remarks

Colombian President Gustavo Petro used a recent occasion to voice his thoughts publicly. Speaking from a hospital in Bogotá, he made some unexpected statements, humorously claiming he was “doing very good in bed” and even suggesting a belief that Jesus Christ had intimate relations with him.

Petro, known for a history of scandalous remarks, delivered this perplexing speech just a week ahead of an anticipated meeting with President Trump at the White House.

Alongside mentioning his upcoming discussion with Trump, he touched on various unrelated topics, such as Trump’s approach to women and commenting on the U.S. relationship with Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro, drawing parallels between the two leaders largely based on their oil interests.

The president also expressed a belief that Jesus “likely had romantic relations with Mary Magdalene,” which some might find controversial.

Scheduled to meet with Trump on February 3rd, Petro had his U.S. visa revoked last year over comments regarding the U.S. military’s role, but has since acquired a special five-day visa for this trip. He sees this meeting as crucial, deeming it “of extreme importance” not just for himself but for humanity as a whole.

In his speech, he humorously mentioned that he would ask Trump, who is known for abstaining from alcohol, if he preferred “wine or whiskey.” Petro humorously shared that after undergoing surgery, he cannot drink alcohol, stating, “I hardly ever drink.”

“I’m going to ask President Trump, ‘Do you prefer wine or whiskey?'” he continued, adding that such gestures highlight cultural differences. And he noted a peculiar warning to women choosing traditional Western names for their children.

Petro spoke candidly about his personal life and romantic experiences, but clarified that he wouldn’t pry into Trump’s private affairs during their meeting. He noted with pride that he is “unforgettable” in bed, despite not wanting to discuss intimate matters openly.

He suggested that gossip shouldn’t focus on personal affairs and claimed that he is memorable for reasons beyond the bedroom, hinting that such electric conversations could infringe on broader freedoms.

Further discussing attraction, Petro shared his thoughts on what women appreciate, claiming intelligence always wins over brute strength. In a somewhat reflective tone, he noted how Colombian men charm women through rhythm and conversation, while suggesting that European women may not hold the same appeal.

The Colombian President also made comments regarding love, stating his belief in Jesus’ romantic life, a view he holds without clear historical backing.

Addressing the recent U.S. actions against Maduro, he called on American authorities to return Maduro to Venezuela for trial there, emphasizing a difference between Latin American and Anglo-Saxon legal systems.

Petro urged Colombians in the U.S. and other countries to return home, expressing that they are treated poorly abroad, likening their experiences to being pursued like “dogs in the streets.” He concluded with a bold proclamation about the Colombian peso’s value exceeding that of the U.S. dollar.
