Robert Kraft addresses Bill Belichick's exclusion from the Hall of Fame

Robert Kraft Backs Bill Belichick

Robert Kraft is firmly in support of Bill Belichick. Even though they have had their disagreements over the years, Kraft, who was recently announced as a new inductee into the Pro Football Hall of Fame, voiced his backing for the former Patriots head coach.

“Regardless of any perceptions that may exist about the personal differences between Bill and I, I strongly believe that Bill Belichick’s history and body of work speaks for itself,” Kraft stated. This gives a glimpse into his ongoing respect for Belichick’s contributions.

In his over two decades as head coach of the New England Patriots, Belichick set remarkable standards for excellence, preparation, and success, especially during the free agency era and under the constraints of the salary cap. Kraft labeled him as “the greatest coach of all time,” emphasizing that he deserves a unanimous induction into the Hall of Fame.

Kraft and Belichick worked side by side for 24 years, leading the Patriots to six Super Bowl victories. However, in their later years, their relationship deteriorated, culminating in a split in 2024.

Kraft’s commitment to Belichick’s legacy is shared by others in the football community, many of whom were taken aback by Belichick not making it onto the first ballot for Hall of Fame consideration. It’s a sentiment echoed by various prominent figures, including Donald Trump, Patrick Mahomes, and Tom Brady.

At 84, Kraft has owned the Patriots since 1994 and is also under consideration for the Hall of Fame this year.

Despite being hopeful, he has faced challenges in getting onto the ballot in previous years, having missed out 13 times before this year’s voting started.

Kraft and Belichick were up against other notable Hall of Fame candidates like Ken Anderson, Roger Craig, and LC Greenwood. As for Kraft’s chances? It’s still uncertain whether he gathered enough votes. We’ll find out when the 2026 Hall of Fame inductees are announced next week, and the formal ceremony is set for August.
