Minaj Critiques Governor Newsom at Trump Event
During an event hosted by the Trump administration in Washington, DC, rapper Nicki Minaj did not hold back her criticism of California Governor Gavin Newsom. Referring to him as a “newscam,” she stated that Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent had effectively “wiped him out” in a recent address at the World Economic Forum.
Minaj, who is no stranger to the spotlight, expressed her thoughts on President Trump during the “Trump Account” summit. She mentioned that hundreds of thousands of dollars would be allocated to support a new investment program for children.
On stage, alongside Trump advisor Alex Brusewitz, Minaj praised Trump for being a president who genuinely seeks change, contrasting him with politicians more focused on fame than serving their constituents. “They don’t care if their policies will work in two months or two minutes,” Minaj commented. “They only care about winning office. This is a different person. [Trump] He’s a different president. He’s a businessman and a real human being.” She emphasized Trump’s intentions to make a long-term impact, suggesting he was sincere in his aspirations.
Brusewitz echoed a sentiment about change, pointing out that perhaps Newsom doesn’t share this desire. Minaj responded, “No, he doesn’t want change. Absolutely not. Newscam just wants attention.”
Bessent, also a speaker at the summit, had recently critiqued Newsom during his appearance at the World Economic Forum in Davos. He noted the irony that Newsom might be as economically uninformed as Vice President Kamala Harris, due to his high-profile connections and luxurious lifestyle.
“He’s here this week with his billionaire sugar daddy, Alex Soros,” Bessent remarked, highlighting Newsom’s questionable decisions during the pandemic, like dining at expensive restaurants while others were under lockdown.
At the summit, when asked about Bessent’s remarks, Minaj responded, “Very spot on,” adding, “That’s one of my new heroes,” showing admiration for Bessent’s calm and confident dismissal of Newsom.
Minaj concluded her appearance by reiterating her unwavering support for Trump, stating that she remains his “biggest fan.”
