Brian May on Queen’s Future in the U.S.
Brian May, the lead guitarist for Queen, recently expressed that the band has no plans to perform in the United States again, citing safety concerns. He indicated, during a conversation with the Daily Mail, that while they have fond memories of America, the current climate makes returning a risky proposition.
May, now 78, mentioned that the band might have exciting ideas for their fans, emphasizing that they would not cancel their tours. “America is a dangerous place at the moment,” he stated, highlighting the need to think carefully about their decisions.
Reflecting on their history, May shared his disappointment, saying, “It’s so sad. I feel like Queen grew up in America and we love America, but that wasn’t really the case.” He noted that many artists are reconsidering plans to go to the country.
While he didn’t specify what kind of danger he was referencing, his stance seemed quite resolute.
On a more personal note, May, alongside drummer Roger Taylor, remains active in the music industry. He’s currently touring with Adam Lambert and indicated that a return to Queen isn’t off the table entirely. “We don’t know when Queen will be back on stage. It’s an unknown,” he stated, underscoring a wait-and-see approach.
Taking a reflective moment, May mentioned the importance of family time and self-examination during a break. However, he hinted at future plans, saying, “But never say it’s not coming back. The Queen 2 rebuild is in the works, and there are some surprises ahead.”
