OnlyFans creators pursue O-1 visas as ex-star Nala Ray advocates for a ban

Adult content creators on platforms like TikTok and OnlyFans are pursuing O-1 visas to work in the United States. Nala Ray, a former top creator on OnlyFans, expressed her view that such professionals shouldn’t be considered as having “exceptional ability” under U.S. immigration law.

Ray, who left OnlyFans two years ago after converting to Christianity, shared her concerns about granting visas to these creators. “OnlyFans and adult content shouldn’t even be seen as authentic work,” she stated. While acknowledging that some online creators contribute positively, she argued that not all forms of content should qualify.

According to U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), the O-1 visa is designed for individuals with “extraordinary talent” in various fields such as arts and business. Applications must be submitted by a U.S. employer or agent, who then must provide the necessary evidence.

Ray firmly stated that models on OnlyFans must not qualify for these visas. She remarked, “I absolutely support that ban. It seems unethical to consider this work as beneficial to our country.” While recognizing that many OnlyFans creators earn impressive incomes, she emphasized that this wealth doesn’t necessarily contribute positively to society.

As someone who was once in the top tier of the platform, she shared insights into the personal issues that accompany such work. “OnlyFans can ruin relationships and friendships,” she noted. Ray also recognized the mental health challenges and risks that creators face. “Once you reach a certain income, you might spiral downward in order to maintain that lifestyle,” she explained. “Many people in this industry turn to substances, which can be dangerous.”

Beyond just immigration issues, Ray highlighted broader societal concerns. “If God were more central in our lives, adult content would not be prevalent,” she asserted, suggesting a potential return to faith could reduce the demand for such material.

Ray’s perspective is not shared by all, as immigration attorney Raymond Lahoud noted that the O-1B visas are often sought by social media influencers and content creators. He indicated that high-earning applicants could rightly consider themselves eligible for the visa. However, Ray took issue with the idea of judging worth solely based on monetary success, calling it shallow and detrimental to societal values.

In her concluding remarks, she referred to OnlyFans as a “social scourge,” expressing strong concern over its potential continued influence in the U.S. OnlyFans has yet to respond to requests for comments regarding this situation.
