Melania Trump Discusses Her Documentary
On “Fox & Friends Weekend,” co-host Rachel Campos-Duffy interviewed Melania Trump regarding her documentary titled “Melania.” This documentary chronicles her life during the twenty days leading up to President Donald Trump’s second inauguration.
Interestingly, the audience demographic for the film was quite atypical, with older women largely driving its impressive opening weekend performance. According to a report from Variety, this documentary saw an impressive $7 million in gross earnings, marking the biggest documentary debut in over a decade.
David A. Gross, head of Franchise Entertainment Research, pointed out that the attendance stats were “unusual.” He noted that typical mainstream audiences usually fall within the 15 to 44 age range, often including families, differing greatly from this particular crowd. The report also mentioned that these older female attendees view Melania as a role model.
The movie has drawn attention for its unique viewer makeup: a reported 72% of ticket buyers were female, and approximately 83% were over 45 years old. Most of this female audience came from rural, conservative regions, with demographic breakdowns indicating that 75% were white, 11% Hispanic, and 4% each for Black and Asian viewers.
Upon its release, “Melania” came in third place at the box office, trailing behind the thrillers “Send Help” and “Iron Lung.” Despite criticisms from some entertainment critics labeling it as propaganda from the Trump administration, audience reception diverged sharply, with verified viewers on Rotten Tomatoes giving it a striking 99% approval rating against a mere 9% from critics.
The film’s unexpected success turned heads in Hollywood, as many had anticipated a poor reception, especially considering some theaters’ near-empty seating charts before its release. One source remarked, “No one expected that to happen,” reflecting the surprising turnout.
