Surgeon Arrested for Double Murder in Ohio
Recently released footage provides a glimpse into the arrest of Michael McKee, a 39-year-old surgeon facing serious charges for the alleged murder of his ex-wife and her husband. The video captures him being processed at the Franklin County Correctional Center shortly after 4 p.m. on January 20, following his arrest in Illinois and subsequent extradition to Ohio.
In the video, McKee appears calm, moving through the booking area while handcuffed and dressed in a light blue zip-up jacket paired with dark blue pants. After undergoing a pat-down search, he changes into prisoner-issued slides and looks somewhat uneasy as he continues through the facility.
McKee has been accused of fatally shooting his ex-wife, Monique Tempe, and her husband, Dr. Spencer Tepe, at their Columbus home during the early hours of December 30. His arrest occurred on January 10 in Rockford, Illinois, where he spent some time in the local jail before being transported back to Ohio.
During a recent hearing, McKee pleaded not guilty to four counts of premeditated aggravated murder, which includes specifications that suggest he used a firearm. Investigators linked him to the crime through a vehicle observed in the vicinity of the Tepe residence shortly before and after the alleged murders. This vehicle was registered to him in Rockford.
Furthermore, Columbus Police Chief Elaine Bryant mentioned that several weapons were confiscated from McKee, at least one of which has preliminarily been connected to the crime.
The bodies of the Tepe couple were discovered by a friend who became concerned when they couldn’t reach the pair. In a phone call to emergency services, the friend expressed shock, stating, “There’s a body,” and described the scene of distress.
The couple’s two young children were found safe within the home, amidst the chaos. As for McKee and Monique’s past, they were married briefly in 2015 before divorcing due to what Monique described as incompatibility issues.
Interestingly, they were preparing to celebrate their fifth anniversary just a month prior to the tragic events, which adds another layer of sorrow to this already heartbreaking situation.
