Google Extends Data Migration Deadline for Fitbit Users

Google has once again pushed back the deadline for Fitbit users to transfer their data to their Google Accounts.

Now, users have until May 19, 2026, to complete the migration. This extension, previously set for February 2, was updated on the Google support page.

As of May 19, Fitbit users will no longer be able to access their accounts unless they move to a Google account. So, if you want to keep using Fitbit, the transfer is essential.

The post clarified that users can still download or erase their data before Google initiates its deletion process on July 15, 2026.

Previously, Google indicated that data from Fitbit accounts would be deleted but hadn’t specified a timeline.

This recent extension offers Fitbit users an additional couple of months to download their data post-deadline for transferring accounts.

If users don’t download or opt to retain their data during migration, they will lose access to their accounts and all historical data associated with them.

The initial migration deadline was 2025, which was then changed to February 2, 2026, and has now been extended to May 19.

For those who haven’t yet switched, Google has provided step-by-step guidance available on its Fitbit support page.

To transfer your Fitbit account, open the Fitbit app, log in, and then select [Settings] followed by [Account Transfer]. Just follow the prompts on your screen.

During this process, there’s an option to review and modify your data and settings, and you can back out at any point before finalizing.

Post-migration, managing your Fitbit data will occur through your Google account settings and the Fitbit app.

Finally, if you’ve created a new Fitbit account or bought a device in the last two years, you’re already using Google’s system, so no migration is necessary.
