Nicki Minaj Critiques Governor Gavin Newsom
Rapper Nicki Minaj shared her thoughts on California Governor Gavin Newsom during a recent episode of the “Katie Miller Pod.” Host Katie Miller probed Minaj about the roots of her discontent, asking if it was more about Newsom’s approach to illegal immigration, housing rehabilitation in the Palisades, or his endorsement of transgender policies in education. Minaj clarified that, while she supports adults’ rights to change their gender, she stands against children doing so.
Minaj expressed her frustrations concerning Newsom’s communication tactics, saying, “In the case of Newscam, it’s everything you mentioned, plus the fact that he seems obsessed with social media and what’s trending. Trump is doing his own thing and trying to be funny, but it often backfires. You’re competing against someone who’s already been in office twice. He’s got the experience.” She continued with a note of disbelief at Newsom’s apparent failure to connect with the public, suggesting that his humor only resonates with a small circle.
Moreover, the rapper criticized Newsom for his behavior during the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, where he spoke negatively about the U.S. and Trump. “He’s embarrassing himself. We don’t want someone like that in the presidency. Loyalty is important to Americans, and he’s lacking in that aspect,” she stated.
In her remarks, Minaj pointed out how she publicly sought help on Twitter regarding what she referred to as swatting calls, which she claimed were part of a smear campaign against her. “He ignored my pleas,” she said, emphasizing her annoyance with Newsom’s focus on women in hip-hop instead of addressing more pressing issues.
Previously, at Turning Point USA’s AmericaFest, she expressed disdain for Newsom’s comments about meeting transgender kids, joking, “Imagine a guy trying to meet transgender kids. Even adults wouldn’t find that appealing. What we truly want is for our children to feel safe and happy.”
Newsom has been known to advocate for various transgender policies in the state, particularly those impacting children, including gender reassignment procedures.
In response to Minaj’s remarks, Newsom’s office offered well-wishes for her, her husband, and his parole officer.
