Anthony Davis Traded to Washington Wizards

Anthony Davis’ injury-prone stint with the Dallas Mavericks seems to have come to an end. On Wednesday, ESPN reported that the 10-time All-Star forward was part of a major trade deal that will send him to the Washington Wizards.

In return, the Mavericks are set to gain Khris Middleton, AJ Johnson, Malachi Branham, Marvin Bagley III, along with several first- and second-round draft picks, which is quite a haul, really.

Joining Davis in Washington will be Jaden Hardy, D’Angelo Russell, and Dante Exum. Notably, this marks the Wizards’ second significant trade in 2026.

Recently, Washington made headlines by acquiring four-time All-Star Trae Young from the Atlanta Hawks, trading away CJ McCollum and Corey Kispert in the process. Young hasn’t been able to play just yet, dealing with knee and quad injuries. They’re saying he’ll be reevaluated after the All-Star break next week, which… well, we’ll see how that goes.

Davis dealt with a ligament injury in his left hand back in January. Thankfully, the Mavericks’ team doctor confirmed he managed to sidestep surgery, which is good news. Initially, the team estimated he’d need about six weeks to recover, but, you know, these things can be unpredictable.

On Tuesday, the Knicks took down the Wizards 132-101, leaving Washington in a tough spot at 14th in the Eastern Conference standings.

This story is still developing, so stay tuned for updates.
