Claire Foy Reveals Battle with Parasitic Infection
For five years, actress Claire Foy has been fighting against a “disgusting” parasitic infection, a struggle she kept private for quite some time.
Foy suspects she picked up the parasite during a visit to Morocco, and due to this ongoing battle, she ultimately had to give up caffeine. “I kept losing weight, but I didn’t know what was going on,” she shared on a recent episode of a podcast. “I was like, ‘I’m eating everything.’ I was so hungry.” This revelation came during her appearance on “Table Manners with Jesse and Lenny Ware.”
When questioned about whether tests had confirmed the presence of the infection, Foy’s response was, “Oh, that’s terrible.” Parasitic infections are caused by organisms that can dwell within or on other living beings, leading to various health issues, including fever, fatigue, and digestive problems, among others.
“They’re traveling in pairs,” she continued. “The doctors said it’s terrible, absolutely rank. It’s terrible.” Foy believes the infection has affected her for at least five years.
To combat the parasites, she adopted a strict diet that eliminated caffeine to avoid the need for antibiotics. Quitting caffeine proved challenging, as she was used to consuming “at least 15 cups of tea a day” and two cups of coffee. Even after her treatment was successful, she chose to keep caffeine out of her diet permanently.
Interestingly, two stars from “Real Housewives”—Brandi Glanville and Vicki Gunvalson—also reported having parasitic infections from Morocco, yet their symptoms differed significantly from Foy’s. Glanville experienced facial injuries, while Gunvalson felt persistently bloated and fatigued for over two years after her trip.
Gunvalson expressed concerns about her digestive struggles, stating, “I don’t poop. For me, it’s very difficult. It might be once a week.” After seeking treatment, she learned her intestines were “full of parasites” and mentioned taking ivermectin to help address the issue.
