The recent upheaval surrounding Maxx Crosby might mark the conclusion of his tenure with the Raiders.
If this turns out to be his last game in Las Vegas, there’s a particular coach he seems keen to play for: Mike Vrabel of the AFC Champion Patriots.
Diana Russini, from Boston’s Sports Hub, mentioned on the podcast “Zorac and Bertrand” that the edge rusher has shown interest in transitioning to linebacker under the guidance of the former All-Pro.
“I can tell you, I know he wants to play for Mike Vrabel,” Russini remarked recently. “He’s mentioned it before.”
Crosby, a five-time Pro Bowler, left the Raiders’ facility after the decision was made that he would sit out the remaining two games due to knee issues. In the wake of this news, he shared videos on social media of himself shooting hoops and bouncing on a trampoline. However, it’s hard to tell if those videos were recorded before or after the season concluded.
He later appeared on the “Let’s Go!” podcast, where he sidestepped directly addressing his feelings towards the Raiders’ choices but shared his belief in “core principles” that guide his approach to the game.
“There are certain beliefs I hold dear regarding football. I think it needs to be played with integrity,” Crosby explained. “When on the field, you should have a specific mindset. Essentially, you play to win, for your teammates, and you give it your all. Sure, there will be bumps and bruises; being hit is just part of it.”
Crosby underwent knee surgery in early January to address the issue, but uncertainty remains about his future with the team.
Jay Glazer, the Fox NFL Insider, recently informed Yahoo Sports that he believes Crosby’s time with the Raiders has concluded, despite having three seasons left on his contract.
Glazer also noted that any potential trade involving Crosby could be quite costly for the Raiders, even more so than what the Packers gave up to obtain Micah Parsons from the Cowboys back in early 2025. Additionally, he mentioned that the Raiders aren’t actively seeking to part ways with Crosby, which means that any trade would hinge on Crosby’s own decision.
In the meantime, Crosby still managed to lead the league with 10 sacks and recorded 73 tackles over the course of 15 games.
