High Ticket Prices for St. John’s-Connecticut Game

The upcoming game between St. John’s and Connecticut is drawing attention, not just for the teams but for the high ticket prices. For Friday night’s game at The Garden, fans can expect to shell out quite a bit.

As reported by Keenan McKenzie from GoTickets.com, the average ticket price on the secondary market this week has reached $240. If you’re looking for a floor seat, prepare to pay between $2,000 and $3,000. For those on a tighter budget, the least expensive tickets are going for around $175.

To put things in perspective, the average ticket cost for all St. John’s games at The Garden this season is approximately $92.

McKenzie also noted that the average price for college basketball games has been about $79 over the last six months.

Both teams are on impressive winning streaks, with Connecticut having won 18 games in a row, while St. John’s has an eight-game streak going. It’s certainly going to be a competitive matchup, considering they are the top two teams in the league, separated by just one game.

This game is anticipated to generate significant revenue for St. John’s at The Garden, potentially setting records.

Coach Rick Pitino mentioned that around 7,000 Connecticut fans are expected to show up, which could make it feel more like a road game for his team. This sort of attendance isn’t unusual; earlier this season, St. John’s faced both Illinois State and Florida State at The Garden, winning both times.

Coach Dan Hurley commented, “I think it’s going to feel like a road game,” referencing the lively fan presence they expect. This matchup is particularly noteworthy as it’s the first Big East Conference game since February 2009 featuring two teams with either zero or one loss in the month of February.

In terms of head-to-head records, Hurley has a 4-2 advantage over Pitino, but since Pitino joined St. John’s, he holds a 3-2 record against Hurley. Last season, St. John’s managed to sweep the series.
