For more than ten years, the Kimber Custom II 10mm has been a preferred sidearm for hunting, known for its precision, reliability, and significant stopping power—characteristics typical of a classic 1911 design.
This model features a 5-inch barrel, a rubberized grip, fixed rear sight, and a bright green fiber optic front sight.
When we describe the front sight as “bright,” it really stands out, making it easier to aim, especially against backgrounds like shrubs, tall grass, or other dense vegetation.
Over the last decade, I’ve utilized the Custom II 10mm in two main ways: first, as a backup weapon in case of aggressive wildlife encounters, and second, as my primary handgun when hunting, particularly effective against wild hogs in both Texas and Louisiana.
When out in the field, I prefer to carry the Custom II 10mm in a Crossbreed holster chest rig. This setup keeps the firearm securely against my chest, conveniently angled for a quick draw.
I’ve enjoyed numerous one-shot, one-kill scenarios while hog hunting with the Custom II 10mm, though I’ve also missed some opportunities due to my own errors. Those moments could have added to my success, but I’ve learned—over the years—that this handgun reliably gets the job done when it counts.
With a vast array of firearm designs produced by countless manufacturers, it really takes something unique for a particular model to stand out. The Custom II 10mm definitely has that something special.
Its rubberized grip prevents slipping, while the sight configuration, accuracy, functionality, and classic 1911 style come together to create an outstanding handgun. After so many years, the Custom II 10mm remains my trusted choice.
