Woody Allen and Soon-Yi Previn Target Howard Stern
Woody Allen and his wife, Soon-Yi Previn, reportedly view Howard Stern as their “mortal enemy.” This revelation comes from recently released documents by the Department of Justice related to Jeffrey Epstein.
In an email dated November 29, 2017, Epstein reached out to Previn to see if he would like to join a dinner attended by both Allen and Stern, who live nearby on the Upper East Side. Epstein questioned whether Allen would even want to be there, mentioning, “Do I remember correctly that Woody doesn’t like Howard Stern? Should he invite Cavett?” This referred to old talk show host Dick Cavett.
Previn, now 55, emphatically stated regarding Stern, “He’s pushing Mia really hard,” suggesting a significant disdain for the shock jock.
Stern, who is 72, had previously attacked Allen during a tumultuous custody battle between the director and actress Mia Farrow back in 1992. During this time, Farrow accused Allen of sexually abusing her daughter, Dylan, who was a minor at the time. Allen has consistently denied these accusations, and the claims were eventually dismissed in court with no criminal charges filed against him.
Allen’s complicated personal life often became fodder for “The Howard Stern Show,” where Long Island eccentricities are routinely lampooned. Allen, originally from Brooklyn, had a romantic relationship with Farrow’s adopted daughter, Previn.
Interestingly, Stern’s name surfaces in other emails from Epstein as well. In a series dated April 12, 2015, comedian Bobby Slayton discussed inviting a comic to an Epstein-hosted event, mentioning Stern’s sidekick, Jackie Martling, as a possible guest. Slayton noted that Martling would readily share a joke on any topic and commented on Stern’s frugality.
Slayton suggested he could also invite Chris Rock, but added that unless Allen was invited, Rock might not attend either. The idea was to include Louis CK too, whom Allen knows and respects.
Two years ago, in an Instagram post, comedian Lewis Black recounted attending an Epstein party at his Upper East Side mansion, which included Allen, Previn, and others. Black mentioned how Slayton helped organize it with mentions of impressive wine involved.
In the days following the release of the latest Epstein documents, Stern missed a broadcast on February 2, prompting speculation about his health and the show’s future. Stern had announced in December that he extended his SiriusXM contract for an additional three years, following a lucrative previous deal worth approximately $450 to $500 million.
Attempts to reach representatives for Stern, Allen, and Cavett went unanswered.
