Gayle King Discusses Savannah Guthrie’s Mother’s Disappearance

Gayle King has spoken out again regarding the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie, Savannah Guthrie’s mother.

“Somebody knows something,” the CBS Morning host told Page Six’s Desiree Murphy at a Super Bowl party in San Francisco. She implored, “Now is the time for someone to speak up.”

On Thursday, King referred to the situation as “unimaginable.” She expressed her concern during the show, noting, “We’re starting things off a little differently this morning because, like you, we’re waking up with very heavy hearts. We’re praying for our friend and colleague Savannah Guthrie.”

King added, “His mother Nancy is still missing at this time. Late last night, the Guthrie family released a very emotional message.” She went on to say how Nancy’s disappearance is a dreadful ordeal for the family.

King recalled a poignant moment when Savannah shared a video on social media with her siblings, saying, “‘Mommy,’ to hear a grown woman express that, it resonates – we’re all searching for her.” She emphasized the closeness Savannah has with her mother, a bond that makes the situation even harder.

“This is something none of us could have imagined,” she continued. King described the kidnapping charges as “very frightening and very disturbing,” and her heart ached for Savannah and her brother, who had released the emotional video message.

King reflected on the ongoing distress, stating, “You keep seeing those pictures repeatedly. We’re trying to make sense of something that simply doesn’t. It leaves us suffering, gasping for understanding.” She urged help in figuring out the situation.

Nancy, 84, was last seen Saturday evening, having been dropped off at her home in Tucson, Arizona. She was reported missing the following day after not attending church.

This week, authorities stated that they were treating Nancy’s home as a crime scene and believe she was taken against her will. In a recent update, the police mentioned that seeking video from nearby areas is standard in investigations.

Additionally, police seized a vehicle found in Nancy’s garage, and a camera had been installed on her roof after a neighbor tipped them off. There were disturbing details about removed floodlights at her back entrance.

A ransom note, reportedly demanding a substantial amount in Bitcoin, was received earlier this week. FBI officials shared that the note requested a money transfer by a specified deadline.

On Saturday, Savannah and her siblings made another public plea for their mother’s return in a new video. They expressed understanding of the ransom demands but urgently requested her safe return, stating it was invaluable to them.
