Crockett’s Senate Campaign Faces Criticism

Rep. Jasmine Crockett’s Senate campaign is under scrutiny regarding its online presence.

Just two months into his anticipated run for statewide office, several irregularities were spotted on the Texas Democratic Party’s website. These included an odd prompt in the mental health section asking users to “write your main points here in bullet points,” along with a strange reference to gun control in the Social Security section of its campaign platform.

Crockett introduced several policy pages recently, and both errors have been fixed since then.

The initial issue with the campaign’s website was highlighted by CNN senior reporter Edward Isaac Dovere, who noticed the mistake on Crockett’s mental health policy page.

“Require all major insurance companies to fully cover mental health care, including prescription drugs and therapy. Write your bullet points here, anything from a sentence to a paragraph,” the website had stated.

This became a topic of ridicule online, as some users suggested that writing in bullet points could actually be useful for mental health.

“To be fair, that’s not bad advice,” joked Andrew Feinberg from The Independent.

Another user, Sonny Fab, chimed in, “The staff member who generated this garbage for her website couldn’t even figure out how to use AI to shorten the task to less than a minute. What an embarrassment!”

“It’s very true to brand,” another commenter noted.

Crockett’s campaign soon faced additional scrutiny when a bullet point about defending Social Security inadvertently mentioned her gun control efforts on the website.

The Texas Senate campaign trail has been competitive for Crockett, who is currently vying against state Rep. James Talarico (D). The primary is set for March 3rd. Meanwhile, Republicans are also focused on the race featuring incumbent Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas) and Attorney General Ken Paxton (R-Texas), among others.

The Democratic race saw further controversy recently when influencer Morgan Thompson accused Talarico of calling former Rep. Colin Allred (D-Texas) a “plain black guy.”

Allred, who previously represented the Democratic Party in the 2024 Texas Senate race, has since stepped back from that race to pursue a congressional seat.

In a video response last week, Allred reacted to Thompson’s accusations against Talarico, stating, “I had no intention of getting involved in this election, but don’t come for me until I call for you.”
