On January 7th, Randy purchased the winning ticket at a Jewel-Osco in West Chicago while en route to his wife’s doctor’s appointment. “I almost canceled the appointment,” he shared. “Just felt like it was time to buy a ticket.”

Initially, Randy thought the ticket’s value was $350, but after April checked the Illinois Lottery app, she discovered the real figure was, well, quite a bit higher. Like, 1,000 times more.
“We just couldn’t wrap our heads around it,” April said when speaking to local media. “Randy was joking about buying more tickets for $350. When he realized the prize was actually $350,000, everything flipped.”
The duo plans to share their newfound fortune, eyeing it as an opportunity to bolster their retirement savings and invest in real estate.
Interestingly, they aren’t the only ones in Illinois striking it rich in the Lucky Day Lottery. A local woman, referred to as “Work Mom,” also celebrated a $350,000 win in a similar drawing.
This mother used numbers significant to her and her children, and, as luck would have it, they matched all five winning numbers. She received the email about her win on Christmas Day, but initially suspected it was a mistake until verifying it in the Illinois Lottery app.
“I felt a surge of optimism when I picked those numbers,” she remarked. “It turned out to be a Christmas miracle.”
Having already cashed her winnings, she has plans for an Alaskan getaway, her daughter’s education, and some investments.
