Bad Bunny Shines at Super Bowl Halftime Show

Bad Bunny captivated NFL fans during the Apple Music Super Bowl LX Halftime Show with a vibrant and heartfelt performance that celebrated his Puerto Rican roots.

The rapper delivered energetic renditions of hits like “Tity Me Pregunto,” “Yo Pereo Sola,” and “DtMF,” while stars like Cardi B, Jessica Alba, Karol G, Pedro Pascal, and Alix Earl joined in the fun.

This spirited show reflected various facets of Bad Bunny’s culture, including its dances, foods, games, and even the enduring effects of Hurricane Maria.

In a surprise twist, Lady Gaga made an unexpected appearance, performing a touching version of Bruno Mars’ “Die With a Smile.” She also paid tribute to Puerto Rico by wearing its flag colors and showcasing the official national flower, the Flor de Maga.

Ricky Martin joined as a special guest, performing “Lo Que Paso A Hawaii” during the event.

Bad Bunny also raised a football inscribed with “Together we are America,” amplifying the show’s message.

In a recent press conference, the artist—whose real name is Benito Antonio Martinez Ocasio—emphasized his mother’s unwavering belief in him long before he found fame. He shared that she supported him as not just an artist but as a person.

“She believed in me—my decisions, my opinions, everything. That’s what got me here,” he reflected, showcasing a deep sense of gratitude.

When asked about potential surprise guests for the halftime show, he chuckled, implying he wouldn’t spill any secrets but assured the audience they wouldn’t be let down.

“I just want to have fun. It’s going to be a big party. People just need to think about dancing, really—no need to learn Spanish for that,” he remarked.

Leading up to the performance, Bad Bunny expressed that it had been a challenging year, but one filled with appreciation. “The biggest emotion is gratitude,” he noted, as he prepared to enjoy the moment.

Following his September announcement of headlining the halftime show, he emphasized the significance of the opportunity. “This is for my people, my culture, and our history,” he stated, conveying a sense of responsibility to honor his roots.

The decision to feature a Spanish-speaking artist sparked mixed reactions online, with some fans arguing for English songs. Conversely, many defended his presence, highlighting his American identity and contributions to music.

Despite facing criticism—some of which stemmed from his outspoken views on issues like immigration—Bad Bunny maintained a strong fanbase, with many celebrities expressing support.

During a prior “Saturday Night Live” appearance, he addressed the eventual challenge for those who felt disconnected from his music and message, closing with, “And if you didn’t understand what I just said, you have four months to learn!”
