Bad Bunny shares only one line in English during the Super Bowl LX halftime performance

Bad Bunny’s Spanish-Language Super Bowl Halftime Show

During Super Bowl LX, Bad Bunny presented a halftime show that was predominantly in Spanish, with his English contribution limited to a single line.

“The only thing more powerful than hate is love,” he stated.

The rest of the English parts were filled by Lady Gaga, who showcased her role as a wedding singer at a Puerto Rican wedding, and later danced alongside Bad Bunny, whose real name is Benito Antonio Martinez Ocasio.

Ricky Martin made a surprise appearance, delivering a well-produced performance that featured Bad Bunny singing atop a pickup truck, inside a convenience store, and wandering through a grassy maze.

While Bad Bunny chose not to wear a dress, there were two male dancers engaging in suggestive moves near a truck as he performed from a rooftop. Generally, the only point of controversy appeared to be the show’s heavy use of Spanish.

He sang a medley celebrating his Puerto Rican roots, proudly waving the flag during his performance. At one moment, he paused to declare, “God bless America!” which, I think, added an interesting twist in the context of his otherwise Spanish-centric show.

Before urging the audience in the stadium, he made a point to reach out to fans in various countries, including Canada.

As performers left the field, they held flags representing nations from both North and South America. Meanwhile, a large screen at Levi’s Stadium displayed the line, “The only thing more powerful than hate is love.”

In contrast, the “All American Halftime Show” organized by Turning Point USA gained millions of viewers across multiple platforms, with a peak of 4.4 million concurrent viewers eager to witness artists like Kid Rock, Brantley Gilbert, and Lee Brice, particularly on YouTube.

Additionally, Green Day’s pre-game performance stirred some discussion, especially considering their notorious critique of Trump. They even told an ICE agent during a previous performance to “quit your job.”

The event also celebrated the U.S. reaching its 250th anniversary, with public address announcers discussing the Declaration of Independence and leading into a rendition of “America the Beautiful.” The opening ceremony ended with applause for the troops in the Middle East, wrapping up what many considered a very patriotic start to the game.
