Turning Point USA’s “All American” Halftime Show, featuring Kid Rock, attracted millions of viewers. The event honored Charlie Kirk, the organization’s late founder, and served as a counter to the official Super Bowl halftime performance by Bad Bunny.
The conservative nonprofit’s show, which kicked off right before the Super Bowl LX halftime segment, received backing from various conservative groups and was streamed widely. TPUSA organized the event after Bad Bunny suggested that critics of his Super Bowl appearance could “learn Spanish and understand his music” within four months.
This alternative show celebrated American values, incorporating themes of hard work and patriotism, along with a tribute to Kirk.
At the start of the event, TPUSA host Jack Posobiec remarked, “This is yours, Charlie!”
Performers included country stars like Kid Rock, Brantley Gilbert, Lee Brice, and Gabby Barrett, all showcased amidst impressive pyrotechnics. At one point, more than 5 million people tuned into the livestream on YouTube.
Kid Rock opened with a powerful performance of “America the Beautiful” on his electric guitar. He was followed by Gilbert, who performed two of his popular tracks. Barrett also took the stage with her hit “I Hope,” before switching with Brice to sing “Drink Class” and “Cry.” Interestingly, Kid Rock didn’t appear until thirty minutes in, just as the Super Bowl halftime show was concluding.
Rounding off the performance, Kid Rock delivered a gentle version of Cody Johnson’s “Till You Can’t,” as attendees waved illuminated wristbands to mimic the effect of flashlights.
The evening concluded with a heartfelt tribute to Kirk around 9 p.m. A close friend noted that Kirk valued the Super Bowl halftime show as a significant avenue for “winning culture.”
Shortly afterward, President Trump criticized the Super Bowl halftime show, calling it “absolutely awful” and an insult to America’s greatness. He expressed his disbelief at the performance, particularly lamenting its suitability for younger viewers. Trump’s remarks were made on Truth Social, where he mentioned the confusion surrounding the singer’s lyrics and criticized the dancing as inappropriate.
