Prince William and Duchess Kate Speak on Epstein Scandal

For the first time, Prince William and Duchess Kate have shared their thoughts on the Epstein scandal, expressing that they are “deeply concerned.” This statement follows recent reports detailing further implications involving Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor.

A spokesperson for the couple conveyed their sentiments to the media in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, stating, “We can confirm that the Prince and Princess of Wales are deeply concerned by the continued exposure. Their thoughts remain with the victims.”

This marks their initial public comment regarding the scandal.

The controversy intensified after allegations surfaced that Andrew, who maintains his innocence, shared official British trade documents with Epstein in 2010. He reportedly passed along information related to travel plans for Vietnam and Singapore during his tenure as the UK’s Special Representative for International Trade and Investment from 2001 to 2011.

Generally, trade envoys are prohibited from disclosing sensitive documents, and the rules around confidentiality can be strict.

In a November 2010 email, Andrew purportedly endorsed Epstein during a visit to the UAE, stating, “You’re in a big moment,” while addressing the UAE foreign minister. He apparently claimed that the minister thought highly of Epstein and wanted to facilitate an introduction to Crown Prince Sheikh Mohammed.

This interaction came shortly after Epstein reportedly claimed to have met with Abdullah bin Zayed, the UAE foreign minister.

In June 2008, Epstein pleaded guilty to charges of soliciting prostitution and soliciting a minor for similar activities. He was found deceased in a Manhattan jail in August 2019, shortly after being arrested on federal sex trafficking charges.

Interestingly, Prince Edward, Andrew’s older brother, was the first royal to publicly address this issue. Speaking with CNN at the World Government Summit in Dubai, he emphasized the importance of remembering the victims involved.
