Alternative Halftime Show Draws Millions
On Sunday night, Turning Point USA hosted its “All American Halftime Show,” which offered a digital alternative to the traditional Super Bowl halftime performance. This event gained significant traction, attracting more viewers compared to Apple Music’s performance led by Bad Bunny.
The show streamed on various platforms including YouTube, Rumble, and the Trinity Broadcasting Network. Reports indicate that it reached a peak of 6.1 million simultaneous viewers on YouTube alone.
By Monday afternoon, the replay posted on YouTube garnered over 20 million views. Turning Point USA claimed that the total viewership across all platforms has surpassed that figure and continues to grow.
The lineup featured artists such as Kid Rock, Brantley Gilbert, Lee Brice, and Gabby Barrett. The approximately 40-minute pre-recorded performance opened with a dedication, “This is for you, Charlie,” and included a rendition of “The Star-Spangled Banner” played on electric guitar. A tribute to the organization’s founder, Charlie Kirk, was also part of the show following his tragic assassination in September 2025.
Kid Rock concluded his set with a cover of Cody Johnson’s “Till You Can’t.” Andrew Corbett, a spokesperson for TPUSA, called the event a success, highlighting the high viewership and engagement.
Corbett stated, “At least 20 million people watched it,” and mentioned plans to host the event again next year.
The response from conservative audiences was predominantly positive. Many social media users celebrated the impressive viewership statistics and appreciated the show’s focus on patriotic and faith-based themes.
Speaker of the House Mike Johnson remarked, “What’s the best broadcast moment so far this year? The Jelly Roll at the Grammys and Kid Rock at the @TPUSA National Halftime Show!”
Another viewer, Matt Von Swoll, expressed skepticism initially but later praised the show, noting, “Over 5 million people streamed it on YouTube alone. Great artists, insanely good vocals, great talent. 10/10.”
In stark contrast, Bad Bunny’s halftime show faced criticism online. Viewers referred to it as low-energy and lacking appeal. Former President Donald Trump condemned it on Truth Social, calling it “absolutely awful” and “one of the worst.”
TPUSA’s event highlighted the increasing influence of digital platforms for major cultural events, moving away from traditional television.
