Shohei Ohtani Autographed Card Fetches Nearly $500,000 at Auction

This weekend, an autographed card featuring Shohei Ohtani sold for close to $500,000 at auction.

Known as one of his rarest cards, it showcases Ohtani’s image and signature from his early career with the Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters. The final price of $435,000 set a new pre-MLB record for any of his cards.

The PSA 10-rated card attracted a remarkable 59 bids during the auction held at Goldin Block, concluding early Saturday morning.

It’s noteworthy that only ten copies of this particular card exist. It depicts Ohtani in his Ham Fighters jersey, prominently featuring his signature at the bottom, along with a certificate printed on the back.

Another Ohtani card also saw significant success at the auction, generating a net profit of $104,920. This piece, dubbed the “Game for the Ages,” paid tribute to Ohtani’s impressive three-homer, 10-strikeout performance during the NLCS against the Brewers.

The recent auction results clearly show that the demand for Ohtani memorabilia remains robust, particularly following his signing with the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2023. Enthusiasts are clearly eager to invest in items linked to this two-way star, and it doesn’t seem like that appetite is going away anytime soon.
