Tragic Death of Chef on Holiday in Bali
A well-known chef from Sydney has been killed during a vacation in Bali. Davide Vulpis, originally from Italy and employed at Civaria Italian restaurant in Manly, met with a tragic end following a motorcycle accident earlier this week while traveling with friends.
His younger brother, Christian, is currently seeking support to cover the costs of bringing Davide’s ashes back to Bali for cremation.
“He was having a great time with friends, really enjoying life when this heartbreaking accident occurred,” Christian mentioned on a fundraising page. “Our family is mourning, grappling with this impossible loss.”
Christian emphasized the significance of repatriating his brother’s remains to Italy, stating, “It’s very important for us to honor him properly, surrounded by those who loved him.” He expressed gratitude to those who have offered their support during this tough period.
The fundraiser has reportedly gathered over $11,000. “I genuinely have no words to express my gratitude for all the kindness, support, and generosity you’ve extended to me and my family,” Christian added. “What you’ve done means the world to us, and we will always remember it.”
Davide had been residing in Sydney for just over a year after previously serving as head chef at Aparthotel Playasol Mogambo in Ibiza. His last Instagram update featured him cooking at the Manly restaurant, with the caption “The Life of a Chef.”
In response to inquiries, the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade stated that they would not be assisting in this case, as Mr. Vulpis was not an Australian citizen. “We’re unable to provide consular support in this situation,” said a spokesperson, adding that further comments would be withheld due to privacy reasons.
