Sam Darnold’s Eventful Day

In a recent radio segment on Chicago’s 104.3 The Score, ESPN’s Karin Kahler shared an amusing mishap involving Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold. She recalled how, during her Super Bowl experience, she accidentally spilled beer on his locker after a game at Levi’s Stadium.

“As we got closer to Scrum in the locker room, I had trouble hearing, so I decided to move to the side near the lockers. There was this folding chair there, and I thought, ‘If I kneel on that, I could get some great video.’ Plus, I needed to ask a few questions, so it made sense to be close,” Kahler, a senior NFL writer, explained.

However, things didn’t go as planned. “I knelt on the folding chair, and then—bam! It tipped over, and I went crashing down into his locker. It felt like a cartoon moment as I ended up right there, and I accidentally knocked over his beer.”

After the Seahawks’ 29-13 victory over the Patriots, footage showed Darnold briefly interrupting an interview to check on Kahler. “Are you alright?” he asked, to which she quickly reassured him that she was fine.

In a humorous twist, Kahler tweeted, “Happy to report that Darnold is the good guy we think he is! And remember: never trust a folding chair.”

Darnold, who celebrated a significant victory, emerged as a key player in the game, completing 19 of 38 passes for 202 yards and a touchdown, while maintaining possession of the ball throughout. “My focus was on taking care of the football,” he stated. “If it meant taking a sack, then so be it. I needed to play smart.”

He had a remarkable comeback journey in 2024, leading the Vikings with a 14-3 record before signing a substantial three-year, $150 million deal with the Seahawks. Darnold, once considered a missed opportunity after his earlier times with the Jets and Panthers, found his footing again.

“It’s really about my teammates and coaches believing in me,” he reflected on his path to success.
