Abby Wambach Exits Wasserman Agency Amid Epstein Controversy

Abby Wambach, renowned for her contributions to the U.S. women’s national soccer team, has decided to leave the Wasserman Agency. This move comes after revelations connecting the agency’s founder to Jeffrey Epstein’s network.

Casey Wasserman, the agency’s founder and CEO, was found to have exchanged dubious emails with Ghislaine Maxwell, a key associate of Epstein, in 2003. Documents from a recent release by the Justice Department detail these interactions, where Wasserman expressed thoughts like, “I think about you all the time. So how can I see you in tight leather clothes?” Meanwhile, Maxwell inquired whether Wasserman would be “floating around naked on the beach” during a foggy visit.

Wambach, a two-time Olympic gold medalist and 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup champion, shared her decision to sever ties with the agency through an Instagram post, also calling for Wasserman’s resignation.

In her statement, she said, “I have resigned from the Wasserman Agency. I have read Casey Wasserman’s correspondence in the Epstein file. I know what I know and I follow my instincts and values. I will not participate in any business arrangement under his leadership.” She emphasized her long-standing respect for her agent, noting, “Casey should resign. He should go so that more people like me don’t have to.”

Wambach isn’t alone in this departure. Other notable talents, such as Chapel Lawn and Chelsea Cutler, have also left the agency due to similar concerns regarding Wasserman’s emails.

In response, Wasserman expressed deep regret over his past communications with Maxwell, who is currently serving a 20-year sentence for sex trafficking and related crimes. He claimed that the email exchanges occurred before the full extent of her actions became known.

Wasserman stated, “I have never had a personal or business relationship with Jeffrey Epstein.” He also recalled participating in a humanitarian trip with a Clinton Foundation delegation in 2002 on Epstein’s plane, expressing regret about that association.

As of now, Wasserman has not faced any legal charges related to these matters.
