Seahawks GM's contract joke doesn’t land well with Kenneth Walker

Awkward Negotiations at Seahawks Super Bowl Parade

During the Super Bowl parade in Seattle on Wednesday, Seahawks GM John Schneider’s attempt to negotiate with running back Kenneth Walker III took an awkward turn.

Addicted to the festive atmosphere, Schneider started talking about a contract, claiming Walker, who rushed for 135 yards and was named Super Bowl MVP, had tried to negotiate with him just moments earlier. “Ken Walker is the MVP, so let’s go!” he exclaimed, perhaps a bit tipsy. “He tried to negotiate with me five minutes ago. It was really weird. Anyway. Hey, MVP! MVP!”

As Schneider joked about this conversation, Walker managed a sad smile and shook his head. Later, he took to Instagram to refute Schneider’s claims, suggesting that maybe the GM had a bit too much to drink. “He must have been drinking because I never said that!” he posted, followed by a few laughing emojis.

Walker is expected to earn over $13.5 million annually, which puts additional pressure on the Seahawks as they manage about $73 million in cap space. Schneider’s lighthearted “negotiations” might not play in their favor, potentially raising Walker’s asking price.

Blushing with joy after securing his second Super Bowl victory, Schneider might have to smooth things over with Walker after this comedic misstep at the parade.
