Adam Carolla Critiques Swalwell’s Hearing Tactics

Comedian Adam Carolla took aim at Democratic California Representative Eric Swalwell during a recent episode of “The Adam Carolla Show.” Carolla was critical of Swalwell’s questioning of Acting Director of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), Todd Lyons, which took place during a hearing.

In that hearing, Swalwell shared a story about a conversation with a female cashier at a grocery store. He relayed that she had suggested he ask Lyons a hypothetical question regarding identifying whether individuals in an unmarked van were from ICE or were criminals. Carolla, however, expressed skepticism about Swalwell’s story, calling his questions indicative of a “shithole” attitude.

“Swalwell is really bad…maybe I’m an asshole for feeling this way. When a woman plays out a scenario like that, I tend to think, ‘Alright, a bit of theater.’ But when men do it, I often react with, ‘What the hell is that?’ It’s just… pathetic! For what it’s worth, I’d honestly prefer a violent alcoholic over someone like that,” Carolla remarked. He further added, “Cats are the worst, and Swalwell embodies that—it’s a cat move.”

Swalwell’s assertions escalated when he spotlighted a controversial situation involving a 5-year-old child detained by federal agents during the hearing. He displayed an image of Liam Conejo Ramos, who became emblematic of the left’s resistance against ICE after being apprehended in Minnesota in January following an incident regarding his father.

“The choice to remain in your position is yours. Based on your honorable service, and given the disgraceful actions of those under you, you face a decision now: Will you side with the vulnerable children you’re meant to protect or with the violent criminal who terrorizes our city?” Swalwell demanded. He then directly asked Lyons if he would resign from ICE.

Lyons responded, clarifying her position: “I don’t mean that. This child you showed, his father abandoned him and he fled from law enforcement, but the staff at ICE cared for him.”

Carolla didn’t hold back in announcing his disdain for Swalwell’s questioning approach. Moreover, Democratic New Jersey Representative LaMonica McIver also pressed Lyons during the hearing, inquiring if she believed she might face repercussions in the afterlife for her role at ICE. “Do you think Judgment Day will treat you kindly with all this bloodshed?” asked McIver.
