Retired Professor’s Rant Draws Attention Following TPUSA Chapter Approval
A video featuring a retired professor’s explosive rant has surfaced online after a Colorado liberal arts college sanctioned the establishment of a Turning Point USA (TPUSA) chapter on its campus.
David Kozak, an emeritus professor of anthropology at Fort Lewis College, erupted in a tirade back in November following the use of derogatory language by associates of the college’s student body. Interestingly, the TPUSA chapter’s approval followed a petition that had gathered over 1,000 signatures to initially block it, as reported by the TPUSA’s own publication on November 17. In the video, Kozak can be heard denouncing conservative student groups, using terms like “Nazis” while exhibiting inappropriate gestures toward them.
“Hold on, fascists. Hang on, Nazi lovers,” he shouted, also loudly declaring, “Forget the Nazis.”
In a statement from November, Fort Lewis College shared that Kozak was scheduled to retire in 2022. The institution emphasized its commitment to creating an environment that fosters academic excellence, freedom of expression, and civil discussions.
Recent events have shown a surge in interest from students regarding conservative student groups, especially following the assassination of TPUSA founder Charlie Kirk on September 10, which prompted over 100,000 inquiries about starting chapters at both high schools and universities. However, this growing movement has faced opposition from faculty and administrative staff.
Similar conflicts arose in various locations; for instance, left-leaning students in Royal Oak, Michigan, staged a protest against the formation of a TPUSA chapter, which included a walkout and remarks at a school board meeting on November 13. Officials in Prince William County, Virginia, were also criticized for attempting to thwart the creation of a TPUSA chapter at a nearby high school.
In previous instances, TPUSA events have been met with hostility. For example, at an event held at the University of California, Berkeley on November 11, a participant sustained injuries due to an assault by a demonstrator associated with the Antifa group.
