Sen. Hawley Critiques AG Ellison Over Fraud Campaign Contributions

Senator Josh Hawley, a Republican from Missouri, recently criticized Minnesota’s Attorney General Keith Ellison for accepting campaign contributions from individuals linked to a fraudulent scheme that siphoned off hundreds of millions from taxpayers.

Hawley focused on a report detailing $10,000 in donations associated with the “Feeding Our Future” scandal, which reportedly diverted $250 million in taxpayer dollars. “You helped these fraudsters steal $9 billion from your state and then took campaign funds from them,” he expressed passionately. “You should face prosecution.”

Continuing his line of questioning, Hawley asked, “Do you know where that money went? What was it used for? We have heard discussions about ties to terrorism, drug trafficking, and even child trafficking, amounting to hundreds of millions of dollars,” reiterating his point. “And yet, you accepted $10,000.”

In response, Ellison shot back, “That’s a lie.”

Hawley attempted to bring up a whistleblower from 2019, but Ellison interrupted, which stirred further tension. “Please, don’t involve me in this,” Hawley insisted, emphasizing the fact that it was his hearing.

Ellison retorted, “Please don’t call me ‘friend.’”

Hawley’s tone turned sharper as he replied, “Well, you ought to be in jail, so maybe I should call you a prisoner. A whistleblower came to your office with hints of fraud related to ‘Feeding Our Future,’ and you failed to act. Just ask your local paper.”

“That’s a lie,” Ellison countered once again.

“Concerns were raised by Nutritional Partners in 2018 and 2019, and yet you did nothing. Instead, scammers came to your office seeking money and you just went along with it,” Hawley accused with palpable frustration.

Ellison countered that no one had approached his office regarding the concerns. “You’re completely mistaken… I never met anyone,” he asserted.

Hawley pointed to the taped nearly hour-long meeting that’s accessible online, while Ellison claimed the statements shared during the session were taken out of context.

Officials in the state legislature have also insisted that “no donations came.”

In a conclusive jab, Hawley claimed, “He should resign.”

Ellison quickly shot back, “I was thinking the same thing about you.”
