BYU Wide Receiver Charged with Rape After Engagement Announcement
Parker Kingston, a wide receiver for BYU, has been charged with rape just days after sharing news of his engagement.
Authorities in Utah announced that Kingston faces first-degree felony charges related to an incident from the previous year. According to the prosecutors, the alleged victim, then 20, reported to St. George’s Hospital that she was assaulted by Kingston on February 23, 2025. Following her report, police gathered digital evidence and conducted interviews with involved parties and witnesses. An ongoing investigation has been in place since.
Currently, Kingston, who is 21 years old, is being held without bail in St. George, not far from the Arizona border. His first court appearance is set for Friday, with potential sentences ranging from five years to life imprisonment.
Interestingly, Kingston appeared to announce his engagement during BYU’s recent men’s basketball game against Houston. The couple was shown on the Jumbotron, with his fiancée proudly displaying an engagement ring.
BYU released a statement emphasizing that they take all allegations very seriously and are cooperating with law enforcement. However, the school refrained from further comment due to federal privacy regulations and student practices.
Last season, Kingston led his team with 67 receptions, totaling 928 yards and scoring five touchdowns. He also contributed by rushing for 199 yards on 25 carries and returning 17 punts for a total of 230 yards and a touchdown.
