God’s Movement Continues on College Campuses
The wave of spiritual engagement among college students that started back in fall 2023 shows no sign of fading, as seen on Tuesday night.
The initial Unite US event of 2026 drew over 5,000 students to the Addition Financial Arena at the University of Central Florida (UCF), resulting in 1,600 individuals making commitments to Christ and many more getting baptized.
The first Unite US gathering took place at Auburn University in September 2023, where thousands came together for worship and impactful testimonies. Since that time, more than 140,000 students from various states, including Florida, Ohio, and Arizona, have participated in similar events. Some have likened this movement to significant revivals in history, such as the Jesus movement of the 1970s.
According to Unite US’s Instagram account, “We are continually amazed by the transformations we are witnessing nationwide.” It added, “God is actively moving on college campuses, and there’s much more to come.”
Tonya Prewett, the founder of Unite US, remarked, “We’ve seen many who once identified as atheists now embrace Christianity.”
“What an incredible night! What an awesome God!”
Leading up to the event, UCF athletes were recruited to help promote it, featuring in a video that invited fellow students to join in. Jonathan Bibbs, a wide receiver for the football team, urged his peers to “come and celebrate and worship Jesus.” Andrew Williamson, a baseball outfielder, expressed his excitement about the upcoming event, stating, “We’re looking forward to fellowshipping with our brothers and sisters in Christ.”
Prewett mentioned to Fox News her belief that a revival is indeed spreading through college campuses. “Students today are yearning for truth and hope, and they seem to be searching everywhere for it. They’re beginning to find, perhaps, that the true source of both is in Jesus Christ,” she explained.
