Diplomat Denies Sharing UN Documents with Epstein
Fabrice Aidan, a mid-level diplomat from France, has strongly denied accusations that he shared United Nations documents with Jeffrey Epstein. This comes after French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrault brought the issue to the attention of prosecutors and initiated disciplinary actions.
Aidan’s name is mentioned in over 200 documents released by the Justice Department, including emails exchanged from 2010 to 2016 through both Epstein’s personal accounts and those linked to the UN.
The allegations state that Aidan forwarded sensitive UN documents, including classified Security Council briefings. For instance, he reportedly sent a summary of a phone call between former UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon and Turkey’s foreign minister to his superior, who then passed it along to Epstein.
Stephane Dujarric, spokesperson for UN Secretary-General António Guterres, confirmed that sharing sensitive UN information without proper authorization is against established protocols.
“It’s clear that sharing confidential information without explicit permission is a violation of procedure,” Dujarric stated.
Reportedly, Aidan also asked Epstein for the entrance code to his upscale Paris apartment, to which Epstein replied. Additionally, Aidan arranged for a Norwegian diplomat, Terje Lord Larsen, to stay at the location.
Paris prosecutors are contemplating whether to launch a criminal inquiry. Government spokeswoman Maud Brejon commented, “The judiciary should investigate this matter thoroughly. It’s crucial to shed light on this troubling and extensive situation.”
Aidan’s attorney, Jade Douslan, stated that her client “rejects all allegations” and is prepared to cooperate with French judicial authorities.
During his tenure at the Foreign Office, Aidan was seconded to the UN in New York from 2006 to 2013. Dujarric noted that he resigned that same year while facing disciplinary issues based on member states’ information. French media has reported that the FBI flagged Aidan in 2013 for allegedly visiting child pornography sites, a claim his lawyer insists is untrue.
“He has never accessed any site containing child pornography,” she asserted. “The FBI’s investigation did not lead to charges, and the French inquiry came to a similar conclusion.”
A source close to French President Emmanuel Macron indicated that he is “appalled by the recent discoveries.”
