Dog Cafe in East Village Hosts Romantic Dinners for Pet Lovers

Boris & Horton, a charming dog cafe in East Village, is offering unique date nights for dog owners. Designed for both humans and their furry friends, these intimate dinners take place on Saturdays from 5:30 to 7 p.m., featuring a special prix fixe menu.

The “Love at First Bark” event has already garnered over 50 reservations, with couples eager to celebrate their affection for one another as well as their pets.

“Valentine’s Day is all about love and connection,” shared owner Carol Krakowski. She expressed the excitement of creating a dog-friendly atmosphere, which has become a defining inspiration for the cafe.

Menu highlights for dogs include mouthwatering beef bone broth jelly, beef meatballs served atop a potato base, and strawberry tartlets for dessert. On the human side, offerings include clam chowder, beef brisket, and tres leches cake, alongside wine and beer selections.

This dog-friendly establishment, which reopened under new management in 2018, features a cozy corner for patrons to enjoy food and drinks with their pets.

Krakowski, who owns Baja, a four-year-old Chihuahua mix, took the plunge into cafe ownership after feeling burnt out from a corporate consulting career. She noted that dogs have a wonderful way of uniting people, a sentiment she witnesses daily in the cafe.

“The feedback has been overwhelmingly positive and enjoyable,” she said, noting that many people are looking for light-hearted experiences these days.

Since launching “Dog Date Afternoon,” she has seen an uptick in enthusiasm from customers. “Our announcement reached a wider audience than any prior post since I arrived,” she remarked, adding that inquiries about tickets have been pouring in from around the globe.
