New Docu-Drama “The White House” Filmed in Romania
The cast of Fox Nation’s latest series, “The White House,” shared insights on their immersive preparation for the roles. Interestingly, the recreation of America’s iconic mansion wasn’t created on a studio lot; it was filmed in Romania, where they found structures that reflected earlier versions of the White House.
Actor Gavin Mitchell, who portrays President John Adams, mentioned on “Fox & Friends Weekend” that the set was “breathtaking.” He expressed his astonishment at discovering a building in Eastern Europe that resembled “the original White House structure.”
Mitchell described the series as a narrative of the nation’s history seen through the eyes of its early leaders. It delves into the intrigues, scandals, and conflicts that defined the early presidency years.
Co-star Kosha Engler, playing Abigail Adams, noted her reliance on primary sources for her role preparation. She explored the letters exchanged between Abigail and John and mentioned how her period wardrobe, including a corset and wig, helped her get into character. “When you put on a dress, everything just comes naturally,” she said.
Engler shared that her understanding of Abigail Adams evolved during the process, especially regarding her significant yet often understated influence. “I had no idea how incredibly educated she was,” she remarked, highlighting Abigail’s role as her husband’s “right-hand woman” and a vital political force, even outside the public eye.
Mitchell, originally from Glasgow, Scotland, revealed that working on the project motivated him to delve deeper into U.S. history. “I don’t know much about American politics, so I learned a lot,” he commented.
The series “The White House” is now available to stream on Fox Nation, with the first four episodes released and new ones set to debut every Friday.
