Angelina Jolie is contemplating a move that could take her far from Hollywood. After waiting for her twins, Vivian and Knox, to approach adulthood, she’s ready to make this significant change—something she has thought about for quite some time.
Sources say Jolie “didn’t want to live in Los Angeles full-time.” Her custody arrangement with Brad Pitt limited her options. Given that her twins will turn 18 on July 12, the timing seems right.
“She has her sights set on several locations overseas,” a source mentioned, adding that she would feel relieved to leave Los Angeles behind.
At the core of Jolie’s decision is her commitment to her children. She expressed a desire for “privacy, peace, and security” for her family. It’s clear that raising her kids in a calm and safe environment is a priority.
“I now have a home to raise my children in,” she said, reflecting on how the global landscape has influenced her outlook. “But sometimes…the humanity I find all over the world can feel different than what I grew up with here.”
She’s indicated a specific interest in spending a lot of time in Cambodia and visiting family elsewhere. Jolie has a strong connection to Cambodia, having adopted her first child, Maddox, from there in 2002. She spoke about how this experience opened her eyes to important global issues.
“Cambodia was the country that made me realize about refugees,” she mentioned in a past interview. It allowed her to engage with cultural and humanitarian issues in a profound way.
Her journey with adoption is deeply personal. Jolie has three adopted children—Maddox, Zahara, and Pax—and three biological kids with Pitt: Shiloh, Vivian, and Knox. She emphasized her motivations weren’t solely humanitarian but also a reflection of her own upbringing and desire to provide a loving home.
Her perspective has been shaped by her international experiences and has influenced her views about the U.S. Recently, at Spain’s San Sebastian Film Festival, she expressed discomfort with the current state of her home country. “I love my country, but I don’t recognize my country at this moment,” she noted during a panel discussion.
Jolie’s life has been characterized by a cosmopolitan ethos, as she clarified, “My worldview is egalitarian, united and cosmopolitan.” She emphasized the danger of anything that restricts individual freedom.
“These are serious times, so we have to be careful not to say things casually,” she remarked, highlighting the gravity of the world’s current situation.
Jolie has long criticized U.S. policies, penning an op-ed in 2017 against Donald Trump’s immigration ban and stressing the importance of safety while emphasizing the potential harm of such policies.
