Producer Dana Eden Found Dead in Athens
Dana Eden, known for her work on the acclaimed Israeli series “Tehran,” was discovered dead in her hotel room in Athens, according to Greek police. She was 52 years old.
The police are treating her death as a potential suicide, and she was reported missing when her brother couldn’t reach her. Eden was in Athens working on the fourth season of the Apple TV+ show, which showcases Mossad agents attempting to infiltrate the Iranian regime.
Local media has reported that she was found with bruises on her neck and lower body. There’s been some speculation around the circumstances, but the production company, Donna & Shula Productions, denied any allegations of wrongdoing. They emphasized that claims regarding criminal or politically motivated motives for her death are baseless. They urged the media and public to refrain from spreading unverified rumors and acknowledged the significant pain her family, friends, and colleagues are experiencing.
Directors from Israeli broadcasting expressed their sorrow over Eden’s passing, recognizing her as a pivotal figure in the Israeli television industry. They highlighted her contributions to making some of the most notable productions in the country.
Eden had previously been involved in other projects like “Saving the Wildlife,” “She Has It,” and “Shakshouka.” The third season of “Tehran” premiered on January 9th, and a book concerning the show’s narrative was set to release last July, but that date has now been postponed.
The series has earned accolades, including an International Emmy Award in 2021, and was nominated for a Critics’ Choice Award for Best Foreign Language Series in 2023.
