Chris Jones Calls for Tyreek Hill’s Return to Kansas City
Shortly after the news emerged that Tyreek Hill would be released by the Dolphins due to injury, his former teammate Chris Jones made a move to pull him back to Kansas City. Jones, who had played alongside Hill for six years, posted on social media using a clock emoji, hinting at the urgency of the situation.
As reported by ESPN, the Kansas City Chiefs appear to be one of Hill’s most viable options, alongside the Los Angeles Chargers, where former Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel is now the offensive coordinator. It seems like a logical fit, given Hill’s history with the Chiefs.
Hill, drafted in the fifth round in 2016, had significant success in Kansas City, securing over 1,000 receiving yards in four seasons. He became a valuable target for Patrick Mahomes and played a key role in the Chiefs’ rise to prominence.
However, in March 2022, following the Chiefs’ loss to the Bengals in the AFC Championship Game, Hill was traded to the Dolphins, where he has been for the past four seasons. His time in Miami got off to an impressive start, with two consecutive 1,000-yard seasons, but he struggled to maintain that momentum recently, not surpassing 965 yards in the last two seasons. The Dolphins stand to save around $23 million in salary cap space with his release.
Off-field issues also arose during Hill’s tenure in Miami, as allegations of domestic violence came to light from his estranged wife during their 17-month marriage.
Hill faced serious injuries, including a torn ACL and other ligament damage, just four games into the 2025 season. Following the news of his impending release, he expressed on Instagram that his “journey doesn’t end here.” He stated, “Every chapter of my life has taught me something,” emphasizing his love for the game and his commitment to focus this offseason.
Jones has made it clear he wants the Chiefs to seize this opportunity to bring Hill back into the fold.
